| Ofcom allows delay of Digital Two launch1st July 2008 According to Media Week, Ofcom has allowed the launch of the forthcoming national DAB multiplex, dubbed 'Digital Two', to be delayed:
Ofcom could hardly force the 4Digital Group (the Channel 4-led consortium that will operate the Digital Two multiplex) to launch next month anyway (which is when the national multiplex was supposed to launch), because 4Digital hasn't even signed a transmission contract yet, and it would probably take a year or more to build-out the transmitter network to national coverage levels -- the 4Digital Group said in its application for the multiplex licence that they would cover 90% of the population. Channel 4 is reported to be in talks with Global Radio, which is the commercial radio group that has recently taken over GCap, and which owns 63% of Digital One, to see if the two national multiplexes could be combined in some way.
