DVB-H to commercially launch in Finland on 1st December 2006

A licence for a DVB-H multiplex in Finland has been awarded, with the proviso that the service must launch by 1st December this year.

The multiplex will expand from the trial coverage of Helsinki to coverage of Turku, Tampere, Espoo, Vantaa and Oulu by the end of 2006, by which time 29% of the population will be covered, and 40% of the population must be covered by the end of 2007.

No information is available about whether radio will be carried on the multiplex or not.
