Pictures over DAB trial in London

26th January 2007

A two-month trial has been launched in London where colour picture slide-shows are being sent along with certain radio station streams to testers equipped with a new DAB receiver with a colour LCD display.

All of the big commercial radio groups are participating in the trial, with the radio stations carrying pictures being Capital Radio, Heart, Magic and Virgin Xtreme.

The commercial radio industry hopes that the technology will provide a boost in advertising revenues once a large number of users have receivers that can display colour pictures.
