Web site providing news and information relating to digital radio in the UK.

The Wohnort DAB site:

National DAB news, DAB technical parameters, frequency tables, national- regional- and local-multiplexes station and bit rate listings (good site to see what stations will be available), pictures and information about all types of DAB receivers, transmitter information, DAB aerials.

DAB Commercial Station Finder:

This page shows you which local and regional stations you should be able to pick up in your area. BBC: How to Get Digital Radio:

Briefly explains how to get digital radio via DAB, digital satellite, and digital cable. Cable is reported to be worse audio quality than via satellite. Also note that they say that digital satellite costs £215 for a set-top box and minidish plus £100 for installation. Firstly £215 is expensive and assumes you're not getting Sky and also installation is far from impossible for people with a small amount of DIY experience and that installation actually starts from £50 and is only £25 from Sky at the moment (April 2002).

Point (g) says "To develop, extend and improve the Home Services..." which seems to be an opposite requirement to transmitting the BBC multiplex with deliberate wasted capacity.

DAB Eureka 147 Specification

Click on 'ETSI' on the first row for EN 300 401, then register in order to download the specification which is about 2 MB, and not the most interesting read in the world.

Digital Satellite Footprints (Astra 28.2 degrees East)

Place mouse over Astra 2A to see the footprint for Sky's satellite. If you don't subscribe to Sky the signals come from the same satellite.

Power supply to fix Wavefinder dropouts:

This power supply helps alleviate dropout problems with the Wavefinder. It might help alleviate the problem with the Wavefinder crashing but the jury is still out. The actual item has the order code JC92A and is a 12V 500mA mains adaptor.

Fast Information Channel (FIC) Decoder:

This decoder is a small application that you can use to view technical parameters from real multiplexes. These technical parameters are contained within the DAB bit stream. You can download FIC data samples from Esslinger DAB Multiplex Configuration Data. Example FIC data files from the BBC and Digital One multiplexes from April 2001 are available at the bottom of that page and also the two commercial multiplexes in London at that time.
